STALKER 2 final system requirements & performance metrics

Filed under News & STALKER 2

As STALKER 2 creeps closer and closer to release (having officially gone gold, which brought a collective sigh of relief from pretty much the entire fucking world), we finally get to take a look at the revised system requirements.

The system requirements for Stalker 2

While the low-end reqs are fairly basic, on the high-end you'll want a lot of beef behind your boom.

Additionally, nVidia has released drivers for STALKER 2, as well as performance metrics at various settings with multiple GPU configurations. You can see those metrics here, but keep a few things in mind:

Their test machine has 64GB of RAM, which is twice the recommended amount; Assuming STALKER 2 is relatively memory-efficient this shouldn't be a major factor, but it is something to note.

Additionally, the DLSS 3 performance bar ALSO includes frame gen; We don't have any indications how much frame gen alone is goosing those numbers, and I myself have been fairly unimpressed with frame gen on the visual/gameplay end, so be aware of that.

For me, it looks like I'll be getting pretty solid performance on my rig most likely; the baseline without DLSS at 1440p is just a hair under 60FPS at max everything, and I'll most likely turn it on (just as a reference, my rig is running an RTX 4070 SUPER).

If you're on a slower rig, I do have a few quick tips: Your drive absolutely matters. If you haven't upgraded to a SSD - especially something beyond the old SATA interface (feels weird to call SATA old; I grew up with ISA slots & IDE interfaces) - you'll at least be experiencing high load times.. And texture streaming from the disk (which there will no doubt be a lot of) can cause stutters if your drive isn't able to keep up.

Additionally, with limited GPU memory you'll need to keep both resolution & texture memory in mind: At higher resolutions larger textures can be streamed by default, which means you may have to drop your texture quality down in order to avoid exceeding what your GPU memory can handle.

Anyway, STALKER 2 comes out Nov. 20th, and is already pre-loading for some console users (a good thing, given the massive disk space requirements).
