I'm officially admitting it: I was wrong about Black Myth Wukong

In case it wasn't clear: I hate the games journalism industry.

When I wrote my "Go Woke, Go Broke" piece, there was a lot of obscurity, poor reporting, and misinformation surrounding the issue of Black Myth: Wukong's developers.

In other words: IGN done fucked up, and didn't even acknowledge they did. I will, though.

While the weirdness that is their influencer stream guidelines is still seemingly valid, the whole issue of sexism in the workplace and in hiring requirements is pretty much a case of IGN half-assing the translation.

Tonight, while wishing for STALKER 2 to finally be released, I decided to see if there was anything new about Black Myth: Wukong.

There wasn't, but I did decide to check a few reddit posts and source comments from some native Chinese speakers who had a much clearer understanding of the language than I (and were able to explain in detail how the IGN translation was wrong, replete with source information).

So, in summary: The weird sexist language? Not actually weird sexist language (although a bit crass, but not in a sexist way, so I'm fuckin' feelin' it).

The Sweet Baby Inc drama? Turns out none of that's real, either (this I had already suspected, at least).

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be playing Mechwarrior 5: Clans.. and I will, dammit, but now I also want to play Black Myth: Wukong.

After all, it's less than 26 days until STALKER 2 comes out (unless they fucking delay it again, dammit). I'll need something to play until then.
